On 27 and 28 June 2024, Oxford Population Health hosted the second Annual Symposium on Human Proteome and Health at Rhodes House in Oxford. The event welcomed 200 participants from 49 different institutions in 12 countries, bringing together leading experts from academia and industry on analyses and applications of proteomics in health and disease. The symposium included 23 oral presentations, two keynote lectures, and six ’rapid fire’ short presentations by Early Career Researchers. The programme was divided into five sessions:
- proteome genetics
- proteome epidemiology
- advances in proteome technology
- ageing and early disease detection
- proteome and new medicines.
The symposium was designed as a closed meeting of invited experts to facilitate presentation of the latest findings on use of proteomics in early diagnosis, risk prediction, drug target discovery, or methodology for colocalization or genetic analyses in addition to advances in proteomics assays. In addition, the meeting included 20 poster presentations. The organising committee acknowledged the generous support from Alamar Biosciences, Eurofins, Olink, and Somalogic. Prompted by enthusiastic feedback from symposium participants, it was agreed to host the third annual symposium on Human Proteome and Health on 24 and 25 June 2025 at Rhodes House, Oxford.
